Diane DeBella lives in Colorado. She is an author, teacher, speaker, and facilitator, helping women share their truths and reclaim themselves. She’s finding herself in the process as well.
Through her organization, I Am Subject, Diane helps us understand how women are impacted by the society in which they live. By claiming ourselves as subjects of our own lives, we become empowered and also provide strong role models for other women and girls. In healing ourselves we help others—a beautiful way for women to create nurturing, supportive communities.

Stephanie was raised in Jamestown NC and has pretty much been here all her life. She graduated from Ragsdale High School and went to Appalachian State University, transferred to UNCG and graduated with a degree in Sociology. She married her husband in 1988 and then again in 1999. They had a short divorce but couldn’t make it last. She has 2 kids – one from each marriage – ages 24 and 15. Stephanie has worked a lot of places and had a lot of fun. The most important thing in her life is the people she loves – she’s family oriented. She’s also not opposed to alone time now and again.
Stephanie wouldn’t call her life boring or ordinary. She likes to think they (her family) are a pretty unique bunch, but she loves the simple things, camping, reading, yoga, watching TV, hanging with her people, laughing, sunshine and water.
Her motto? What else? Life is Good.
Ovella is a mother of five, wife to her high school sweetheart, doula, and mentor to other women. She is also one of my long-time friends-we attended elementary through high school, and even some college, together.
If you ever want to learn how to balance multiple roles and “unexpected plans” – for example, having your fifth child at age 41 – Ovella’s your “go-to” girl.
Although she feels she’s not a writer, I strongly disagree. I believe you will, too, after reading her story.
Ovella and her family now live in the Wilmington, NC, area.
